Requirements and Procedures

*       Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or   equivalent.

*   Submit a completed application form, including a copy of a Curriculum Vitae, transcripts of previous studies and all other relevant materials as outlined on the application form.

*   Provide a recent photo, for student’s dossier.

*   Attend a personal interview.  The Academic Advisor or Executive Director evaluates your personal qualifications and readiness for the program during the interview.  She/he also reviews the information provided by you in your application.  Your personal motivations and goals for embarking on a new career path are discussed, as well as your past professional and personal experiences.

The NHC Process

*   NHC has three designations of students to clearly define and support your education goals: Personal Exploration, Certificate Applicant, Diploma Applicant.

*   NHC has a review process during the course of your studies.  This is in place to ensure you are on the right path and are fulfilling the requirements of your certificate or diploma (if applicable).

After completing approximately 200 hours – Students will be contacted by the Academic Advisor to help determine their intentions and how to best continue with the NHC program.  Students who are not in a certificate program may continue to take courses on an “interest basis”.  Should they wish to enter a certificate program at any time, a formal application is required.

After completing approximately 400 course hours, and 700 course hours – Students will be reviewed by an evaluation committee.  It is important that the student shows an integrated understanding of their area of interest, and begins to have an idea of how they want to practice in the case of certificate/diploma students.

After completion of 1000-1200 hours – Students will be contacted by the Academic Advisor to review their intentions.  Students in the Diploma program are required to apply for Holistic Counselling at this time.

*Students may request a meeting with the Academic Advisor at any time to review their education goals.
